The U.S. State Department fired a diplomat for failing to report he dated a Chinese woman who is the daughter of a Chinese Communist Party official.
The State Department did not name the diplomat but conservative activist James O’Keefe identified him as Daniel Choi. O’Keefe ensnared the diplomat in an undercover sting, which likely led to the diplomat being fired.
State Department rules require diplomats to report personal relationships with foreigners to keep them from being entrapped into becoming spies for other governments.
