Russia has used technology acquired from Iran to launch more than 24,000 drones against Ukraine so far this year, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The barrage of drones – as many as 728 in a single night – illustrates the increasing importance of drones in warfare and how even sanctioned and economically challenged countries are leveraging drones to disrupt the balance of power.
Ukranian officials say Russia is producing more than 5,000 long-range drones a month.
Ukraine is also an increasingly sophisticated drone manufacturer and hopes to make 4 million drones of all sizes this year, according to the Atlantic Council.
