The Day Berlusconi Slept on the Ambassador
Diplomacy
Amusing
From former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s obituary in The New York Times:
In diplomatic cables released in 2010 by WikiLeaks, the United States ambassador to Italy at the time reported that Mr. Berlusconi, worn out from a long night, had fallen asleep during their first meeting.
The title of the 2009 cable, by Ambassador David H. Thorne, was “SCANDALS TAKING TOLL ON BERLUSCONI’S PERSONAL AND POLITICAL HEALTH.”
